The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) has announced that its 55th Annual Education Conference will be held from July 22 to 26, 2026, at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
Founded in 1965 by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, APRI is an organization focused on advancing racial equality and economic justice for Black trade unionists. The group continues efforts started by its founders to promote rights for working Americans.
A. Philip Randolph previously established the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters in 1925. This union led a significant campaign against low wages and racial discrimination, achieving union recognition in 1935. In 1978, the Brotherhood merged with what is now known as the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM), continuing Randolph’s advocacy for organized labor as a means to support dignity and equality.
The upcoming conference aims to bring together labor leaders, activists, and members nationwide to discuss current issues facing workers. According to APRI, “This annual conference brings together labor leaders, activists, and members from across the country to learn, share experiences, and mobilize around the critical issues facing working people today.”
Participants will have access to training programs and workshops focused on leadership development and strategies for promoting racial and economic justice within their communities and workplaces. The event also provides opportunities for attendees to network with other union members and allies, listen to expert speakers, and acquire practical approaches they can apply locally.
“Participants will take part in dynamic training programs and educational workshops designed to strengthen leadership skills, advance racial and economic justice, and build power in our communities and workplaces,” APRI stated.
Attendees are encouraged to book hotel reservations soon; more details about registration will be provided at a later date. Those interested can download a PDF of the tentative agenda for this year’s conference.
