AT&T has opened its first Connected Learning Center in New Jersey at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA. The initiative was discussed on the “Minding Your Business” program on News 12+, where AT&T Regional Vice President Jaci Kator and Raritan Bay Area YMCA President Steve Jobin spoke with host Bob Considine about efforts to address the digital divide in local communities.

Kator explained, “There are many people who don’t have access to the Internet, they don’t have a laptop, they don’t even know how to use email or create a resume … so our mission is to help millions of people throughout the country … connect and be connected to have the resources that they need.”

Jobin highlighted connectivity challenges faced by residents: “Connectivity in rental units and so forth, which is a big part of our residency, is [limited and] that creates challenges. It’s just super important in today’s day and age to be able to at least have some place to go and this is a new asset to [Perth Amboy] that we really needed, specifically, in this area of town.”

The weekly TV show “Minding Your Business,” produced by the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA), has received seven Telly Awards over three years, including a gold award in 2024 for Interview & Talk Show. NJBIA represents employers across various sectors such as manufacturing, retail, wholesale, contracting, and services. The association offers advocacy and resources for business prosperity while building partnerships among businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions. More information about NJBIA can be found on their official website.
