Bergen County officials are preparing for a winter storm expected to affect Northern New Jersey from Sunday morning through Monday. The County’s Office of Emergency Management and Snow Operations, part of the Department of Public Works, is monitoring the situation and mobilizing staff, equipment, and resources to keep county roads, parks, and facilities clear.
County Executive Jim Tedesco will be available on Sunday, January 25 at the Bergen County Department of Public Works Annex to provide updates on the county’s response efforts. He will be joined by County DPW Director Brian Niland. Media representatives can arrange interviews with Tedesco either in person or remotely by contacting the numbers provided.
The county operates a fleet of over 100 trucks equipped for salting and plowing. These vehicles are responsible for maintaining more than 120 miles of county roadways as well as public parks and facilities. During snow events, between 100 and 150 employees are typically deployed in a continuous response effort supported by staff from multiple departments. Depending on the severity of the storm, crews may work in 12-hour shifts.
Officials stated that they will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and adjust their operations as needed. Residents can follow Bergen County, NJ, County Executive Jim Tedesco, and Bergen County OEM on social media for ongoing updates.
“Media welcome to broadcast live from Bergen County Annex Salt Shed,” according to information provided by county officials. “Media can also tour snow operations command center.”
