The U.S. Census Bureau announced on March 10 that it will provide a two-day embargo period for qualified media to access the Vintage 2025 population estimates. The embargo will cover total population and demographic components of change for U.S. counties, metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas, as well as total population figures for Puerto Rico municipios and related statistical areas.

This embargo period is scheduled from Tuesday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Eastern Time until Thursday, March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. During this time, approved members of the media can view the data through the Census Bureau’s embargo site before its public release.

According to the announcement, these estimates reflect changes in population between April 1, 2020, and July 1, 2025. Media subscribers are encouraged to confirm their login credentials by March 23 to ensure uninterrupted access during the embargo window.

Embargo subscribers may also request interviews with Census Bureau experts during this period by contacting the agency via email. The Census Bureau emphasized that any information obtained under embargo cannot be published or shared until after the official public release date and time on March 26 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.

The advance access aims to help journalists prepare accurate coverage of new demographic trends ahead of public dissemination.
