The hospital emphasizes that nominees should represent the highest standards of the profession through their patient care, involvement in innovative projects, community service, and overall professional practice.
The Janice M. Gamper, RN Nursing Scholarship is intended for employees of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center who are enrolled as nursing students in accredited Baccalaureate Degree, Associate Degree, or Diploma Nursing Programs.
The Marcia Reinfeld Samuels & Morton Abraham Samuels Fund Award for Nurses recognizes nurses who consistently display sincerity, intelligence, reliability, and integrity during challenging situations. Nominees are also described as enthusiastic and dedicated team members who act as educators and supporters among colleagues.
The Joi Mann, R.N. Mentorship Award honors a nurse known for outstanding mentorship and leadership qualities.
The Daisy Team Award In Memory of J. Patrick Barnes is designed to acknowledge collaborative efforts by two or more nursing staff who go beyond traditional roles to meet patient or family needs.
For those wishing to nominate a nurse leader, the DAISY Nurse Leader Award asks nominators to describe how the leader impacts staff and manages patient care.
The Michele Gibson APN Memorial Scholarship commemorates Michele Gibson’s contributions as one of the first advanced practice nurses at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. She played a significant role in developing the Cardiothoracic Surgery program in 1998 and was known for her passion for mentoring new APNs before her death in December 2022. The scholarship is sponsored by the APN Council in recognition of her dedication and compassion.
Two Kathleen “Katy” Hanf/Making a Difference Awards are presented: one to a staff member from either the 2200 or 2300 teams, and another to an employee in the Cancer Center or Infusion Center. These awards recognize individuals noted for their compassionate care and ability to make meaningful differences during difficult times for patients and families.
Finally, the Jane Benjamin Memorial Scholarship supports Oncology or Hospice employees seeking further education through college courses or work-related seminars.
