DC Comics has entered into a yearlong partnership with Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines (GDA | TLC), the official charity of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union). The collaboration aims to highlight the role of trained service dogs in supporting individuals who are blind or visually impaired, veterans with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, children with autism, and public institutions.

The initiative follows last year’s joint effort at San Diego Comic-Con. As part of this new campaign, DC is sponsoring a litter of guide and service dogs. In a unique move, GDA | TLC allowed these puppies to be named after well-known DC characters: Krypto, Clark, Lois, Kara, and Lobo.

Krypto is inspired by Superman’s canine companion. Clark represents kindness and strong morals. Lois stands for intelligence and determination. Kara embodies courage and developing abilities. Lobo is described as bold and unforgettable.

After completing their initial training phase known as puppy pre-kindergarten, these dogs will continue their development with volunteer puppy raisers before becoming full-fledged service animals.

According to the organizations involved: “Throughout the year, DC fans and supporters of GDA|TLC can follow the pups’ training through special events, storytelling activations, and social media moments celebrating community, impact, and heroism. Fans will even have the chance to meet the puppies in person at San Diego Comic-Con this July.”
