Greyson P. Hannigan, Esq., has been appointed executive vice president and chief of staff at the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers (NJ CAR). In this new position, Hannigan will advise NJ CAR President Laura Perrotta and help define, communicate, and implement the coalition’s strategic vision. He will also oversee key departments within the organization.

“Greyson has been an integral part of NJ CAR’s continued support of New Jersey’s $45 billion retail auto industry made up of 520+ franchised new car and truck dealers who directly employ more than 37,000 people,” said Perrotta. “He has worked closely with me, and many other senior staff members, to expand the services we offer our dealer members, and he will continue to be an incredible asset to both me and NJ CAR in this well-deserved new role.”

Hannigan joined NJ CAR in 2021 as senior vice president of legal & regulatory affairs. In that capacity, he provided legal and compliance guidance to dealers on issues such as franchise law, taxation, motor vehicle regulations, banking and insurance matters, employment law, advertising standards, consumer affairs, and other regulatory concerns.

Before joining NJ CAR, Hannigan held roles including chief of staff and assistant corporation counsel for Newark’s Law Department. There he advised city officials on contracts, labor law issues, and legislative drafting. His earlier experience includes serving as an assistant prosecutor in Essex and Passaic Counties; assistant county counsel and county adjuster in Passaic County; solo practitioner focusing on real estate law, criminal defense work, parental representation cases, and immigration matters; as well as holding elected office as a Passaic County commissioner.

Hannigan earned his bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University. He participated in The Washington Center Internships & Academic Seminars in Washington D.C., interning with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – Office of Air and Radiation. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Law School-Newark along with a Legal Education Certificate from Norman Manley Law School in Kingston, Jamaica.
