The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Executive Council is urging all Districts and Locals to support member attendance at the 2026 Pride at Work Convention, according to an April 9 announcement. The convention will take place from June 2 to June 4, 2026, at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis, with credentialing starting on June 1.
Pride at Work is an AFL-CIO constituency group focused on promoting equality and respect for LGBTQIA+ workers within workplaces, unions, and communities. IAM leadership said this mission aligns with their own efforts to foster diversity and inclusion across the union.
“Pride at Work’s mission reflects what we stand for as a union: building a labor movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion and ensures safety and dignity for all,” the IAM Executive Council said. “Guided by the principle that ‘an injury to one is an injury to all,’ we must continue to oppose discrimination in all its forms and strengthen solidarity across our diverse membership.”
The statement also highlighted ongoing IAM initiatives such as expanding Human Rights Committees throughout every District and Local chapter. These efforts are intended to ensure that all members feel welcomed, respected, and fully included within the organization.
Members interested in attending are encouraged to register early; discounted registration ends on Sunday, April 19. Hotel reservations should be made by Friday, May 1, as room availability cannot be guaranteed after that date.
Questions about participation can be directed to IAM Human Rights Director Nicole Fears via email. The council concluded by emphasizing collective engagement: “When we show up, engage, and stand together, we build a stronger, more inclusive IAM Union and a more powerful labor movement for all working people.”
