Ivan Tornos, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Zimmer Biomet, has joined the Advisory Council of the Joseph A Unanue Latino Institute. Tornos brings over thirty years of experience in the healthcare sector, having held senior executive roles at organizations such as Becton, Dickinson and Company, C. R. Bard, and Johnson & Johnson.

Tornos began his tenure at Zimmer Biomet in 2018 as Group President of Orthopedics before advancing to Chief Operating Officer and eventually assuming his current positions as CEO and Chairman. His career covers work in medical devices, biotechnology, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals.

According to the Institute’s announcement: “Those who follow his work, listen to his voice or observe his interactions quickly notice something remarkable: Ivan carries a unique ability to inspire hope in a way that spiritually and physically uplifts others. He leads with compassion, humility and a contagious optimism that has an undeniable effect on the people around him. It is a natural force of positivity that elevates a room when he enters and reminds others of what is possible, a sort of ‘Ivan energy’.”

The Institute also stated: “His presence on the Advisory Council will bring not only strategic vision, but most importantly an emotional intelligence grounded in empathy, authenticity and hope. For students, community members and future leaders, Ivan represents the kind of role model who shows that true success is defined not solely by accomplishments, but by the impact one has on others.”
