Johnson & Johnson, with the support of the Johnson & Johnson Foundation, has announced that it has donated $100 million worth of MedTech products since 2020. The donations are aimed at improving access to specialized care for people worldwide. In addition to these contributions, the company plans to provide an extra $20 million in 2026 for programs and impact investments designed to empower health workers who deliver cardiac, vision, and surgical care in their communities.

These initiatives are part of J&J CareCommunity, a social impact platform created by Johnson & Johnson and its foundation. The platform focuses on supporting health workers and advancing access to quality healthcare. J&J CareCommunity collaborates with organizations such as Lions Clubs International Foundation, Operation Smile, and the American Heart Association.

“With these efforts, we’re accelerating the work of J&J CareCommunity, partnering with global and local organizations to deliver new tools, training and sustained support that frontline care teams need to expand access to specialized care,” said Tim Schmid, executive vice president and worldwide chairman of MedTech at Johnson & Johnson. “As a leader in medical technology, we know that delivering specialized care doesn’t just help people. It also fuels healthier communities, stronger economies and lasting change.”

According to the company, shortages of skilled surgical and health workers as well as limited technologies and infrastructure contribute to gaps in access to specialized care in under-resourced areas. To address this issue, Johnson & Johnson is providing medical tools and technologies that help health workers restore circulation, heal wounds, improve vision, and offer other essential services.

The company also partners with organizations to build programs that train health workers involved in providing this type of care. These collaborative efforts reach more than 300,000 healthcare professionals each year by enabling them to use tools and technologies necessary for safe surgical procedures.

“Safe surgery gives children the chance to breathe freely, speak clearly, and move through life with confidence,” said Kristie Magee Porcaro, Chief Strategy Officer at Operation Smile. “Yet too many still lack access to these essential procedures. By strengthening health systems and equipping local health workers and leaders, we help bring life-changing care closer to home, fostering resilient communities and creating a future full of possibilities.”

Through J&J CareCommunity initiatives involving multiple global partners continue working toward expanding access both now and into the future.
