Silvia Merino-Topley has been promoted to senior vice president and chief compliance officer at Kearny Bank. In her new position, she will continue to oversee the bank’s compliance program, monitor compliance issues, assess related risks, advise company leadership, and act as the main point of contact with regulators.

Merino-Topley joined Kearny Bank in 2020 as second vice president and senior compliance officer. She was promoted in 2022 to first vice president, where she was responsible for managing the bank’s compliance program.

“Management of client risk requires significant attention to detail, along with a knowledge and skills that are developed only through experience,” said Michael Valente, first senior vice president and chief risk officer. “Silvia’s promotion reflects her expertise and leadership in a demanding field, plus work that consistently benefits our clients and our company.”

She holds a bachelor’s degree in international business and marketing from Montclair State University. She has also earned American Banking Association certificates in Lending Compliance, Deposit Compliance, and BSA/AML Compliance. Additionally, Merino-Topley is co-chair of the NJBankers Compliance & CRA Committee and serves on both the NJBankers’ Banking on Women Planning Committee and the New Jersey Committee of the Financial Women’s Association of New York.
