Donna Cuthill, a nurse practitioner at Monmouth Medical Center’s Wound Care Center, has received the DAISY Award for her service to patients. The award is endorsed by The DAISY Foundation and recognizes nurses for their commitment to patient care.

Cuthill was nominated by a patient who described a challenging medical journey involving multiple surgeries and ongoing treatment for an infected wound. The patient said, “From the second that she met me, Donna made me feel at ease, told me that everything was going to work out and that it might be a slow process, but we’re going to get through this. I mean there was a time where I thought I actually might lose my leg. I’ve had three surgeries so far and am waiting on my fourth one for a new knee replacement. I’ve been on antibiotics throughout the whole entire year because of the wound on my ankle and getting skin grafts. I just can’t express to you how Donna made me feel at ease through all of them. I have to say, this Clinic is so special. Donna is exceptional with the work that she does and how she does it. I think she should’ve been a doctor, but maybe that wasn’t her calling; every one of them at this Clinic is exceptional with their bedside manner. I hope you understand how strongly I feel about how special Donna is to me.”

The DAISY Award program was established by the family of Patrick Barnes after his death from complications related to Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), an autoimmune disease. The foundation seeks to honor nurses who provide compassionate care in hospitals and clinics.

Cuthill had previously been recognized as Monmouth Medical Center’s Employee of the Month in 2024.
