The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) New Jersey Chapter has announced the recipients of its 2026 Director of the Year Awards. The annual event, now in its seventh year, recognizes individuals for leadership and effective governance on public, private, and nonprofit boards throughout New Jersey.

The awards ceremony gathers corporate directors, business leaders, governance professionals, and community stakeholders to highlight the significance of board leadership and governance practices. According to Jeannie Diefenderfer, board chair of NACD New Jersey, “Strong boards are essential to building resilient, high-performing organizations. The Director of the Year Awards reflect our chapter’s commitment to advancing governance excellence and fostering a community of directors who are dedicated to thoughtful leadership and responsible stewardship.”

Richard Mroz, event chair for the NACD New Jersey Director of the Year Awards, commented on the importance of the gathering: “The Director of the Year Awards have become a cornerstone gathering for New Jersey’s governance community. Each year, this event creates an opportunity for directors and leaders to connect, exchange insights and celebrate the impact that effective boards have on organizations, stakeholders and communities. We look forward to another meaningful and engaging evening in 2026.”

The event features networking opportunities as well as keynote remarks and presentation of honors. Attendees include industry directors, executives, governance experts, and representatives from community organizations.

Nominations for these awards are submitted by directors affiliated with NACD New Jersey Chapter. A selection committee composed of community members, corporate leaders, and governance authorities reviews all nominations.
