The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) has received reaccreditation for its Banking Division from the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS), confirming that the department continues to meet national standards for regulating financial institutions. The reaccreditation was officially communicated to DOBI on December 29, as part of a process conducted by CSBS every five years.
According to Commissioner Justin Zimmerman, “The accreditation process ensures that the department’s oversight of the banking industry is at its highest level and aligns with nationally accepted best practices. The department is committed to upholding these rigorous standards to ensure the safety and soundness of state-chartered banks and the protection of New Jersey consumers.”
Accreditation supports DOBI’s mission in overseeing the banking, insurance, and real estate industries in New Jersey. The CSBS program involves a detailed independent review covering areas such as administration, finance, personnel training, examination procedures, supervision methods, and statutory powers. Through this process, CSBS aims to recognize competent state regulators and promote safe financial services while ensuring consumer protection.
