NJIT is set to host the New Jersey Science Olympiad tournament in January at its Campus Center Ballroom and Makerspace facilities. The event will bring together about 700 students and coaches from approximately 45 schools throughout the state, with participation split between 20 middle school teams and 30 high school teams.

The annual competition focuses on hands-on STEM activities that promote teamwork, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. Students will take part in events highlighting their skills in mechanical engineering, aerodynamics, robotics, and physics. All competitions are designed to align with Next Generation Science Standards.

According to organizers, “The annual interscholastic tournament encourages hands-on learning through projects that promote teamwork, critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving.” The tournament’s results will be available on the New Jersey Science Olympiad website, with awards distributed to participating schools.

The event is scheduled for January 7, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a snow date of January 14. More details can be found at https://www.njit.edu/precollege/new-jersey-science-olympiad and https://www.njscienceolympiad.org/tournaments/2026/njit/index.html.
