The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) has raised $30,443 through online donations and collected 2,065 pounds of nonperishable food items for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) during its 16th annual food drive.

This initiative was led by the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council. Food items were gathered at the NJCPA’s Roseland office and other member offices in November. The campaign also included a volunteer day at CFBNJ’s Hillside location.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey supplies food to over 800 community partners and distributes more than 90 million meals each year. The organization reports that nearly 12% of people in New Jersey experience food insecurity. Since 2010, NJCPA has donated around 25,000 pounds of food to CFBNJ.

“Hunger affects so many New Jerseyans. The Food Drive is a great way to give back to the local communities we are all a part of. Whether through volunteering at the FoodBank’s packing facility or providing monetary donations, it’s important to get involved,” said Joseph Hunt, CPA, PSA, manager in the nonprofit group at CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) LLP and chair of the NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council.

Several organizations contributed by collecting food or virtual donations at their offices. These include Alloy Silverstein; Bowman & Company LLP; Citrin Cooperman; CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA); Deloitte; Forvis Mazars USA LLP; Paymedia, LLC; PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP; Prager Metis; SKC & Co. CPAs; Smolin, Lupin & Co., LLC; Stephano Slack; Traphagen CPAs & Wealth Advisors; WilkinGuttenplan; and Withum.

“We are so proud of our members and their generosity to this worthy cause. CPAs help New Jerseyans in so many ways, and this is another wonderful initiative to show how much they give back on a daily basis,” said Aiysha (AJ) Johnson, CEO and executive director at the NJCPA.

The NJCPA Emerging Leaders Council is composed of appointed members with up to ten years’ experience who plan events for aspiring CPAs and new licensees throughout the year.
