RWJBarnabas Health recently hosted U.S. Senator Andy Kim and Lieutenant Governor Dr. Dale Caldwell to discuss the organization’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity in New Jersey.
The visit began with a community health discussion at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, attended by Mark E. Manigan, President and Chief Executive Officer of RWJBarnabas Health, and Darrell K. Terry, Sr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. The event concluded at Saint James Health, where RWJBarnabas Health operates a Food Farmacy program.
During the meetings, health system leaders outlined both current initiatives and future plans focused on improving access to healthy food and healthcare services. They also discussed strategies for strengthening local economies and addressing social determinants of health through partnerships and direct investments.
