RWJBarnabas Health has announced a multi-year partnership with New Jersey Devils player Jack Hughes. The collaboration aims to encourage residents of New Jersey and the surrounding area to focus on their healthcare needs.

As part of this agreement, Hughes will serve as a brand ambassador for RWJBarnabas Health. This new role builds on a relationship between RWJBarnabas Health and the New Jersey Devils that has lasted over 30 years.

The campaign will center around promoting routine doctor visits, recommended health screenings, and the use of preventive care and specialty services offered by RWJBarnabas Health. The initiative includes a range of promotional activities across multiple platforms and community engagement efforts.

“RWJBarnabas Health is proud of its longstanding partnership with the New Jersey Devils and this new collaboration with Jack Hughes allows us to deepen our commitment to building and sustaining a healthier New Jersey,” said Mark E. Manigan, president and chief executive officer, RWJBarnabas Health. “As a trusted leader on and off the ice, Jack embodies the values of teamwork, dedication and community, making him an ideal partner to help encourage New Jersey residents to make their health a priority. Together, we will raise awareness about the importance of regular checkups and preventive care, reinforcing our shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve across New Jersey.”

Hughes was selected as the first overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Devils. He has played his entire professional career in New Jersey. According to RWJBarnabas Health, Hughes prioritizes his own health through rest, nutrition, and regular medical checkups.

“I’m really excited to partner with one of the biggest health care systems in the state and as someone who is proud to play here in New Jersey, I truly believe this is going to be an awesome partnership,” said Hughes. “Both of my grandfathers, a pediatric neurologist and a firefighter, are two individuals who impacted people’s lives for the better in completely different ways. Making a meaningful contribution to my community and impacting others are very important to me. This partnership bridges it all together. Being part of that and making a difference is something I am really proud of.”

The partnership extends existing collaborations between RWJBarnabas Health and the Devils that include events such as ‘Running with the Devils 5K Run & Walk,’ support for youth hockey programs like Learn to Play, hospital visits by players, blood drives, cause nights at games, patient experiences during matches, community screenings, signage at hospitals and rinks throughout New Jersey.

A Get Checked-themed television commercial featuring Hughes will launch in mid-December alongside another spot highlighting him with healthcare professionals from RWJBarnabas Health. Additional content for digital platforms is also being developed.

More than 200 life-sized cutouts featuring Jack Hughes along with RWJBarnabas Health branding will be displayed at hospitals, outpatient centers, doctors’ offices, and hockey rinks affiliated with the Devils throughout New Jersey. Other elements include social media campaigns, outdoor advertising, radio spots, event appearances in communities across the state as well as messaging inside arenas during games.
