U.S. Senator Cory Booker visited the site of Harvest: An RWJBarnabas Health Farm to Community Center in Newark on December 5. The center, which is expected to open in March 2026, will serve as a food hub aimed at addressing food insecurity and other social determinants of health in New Jersey.
During his visit, Senator Booker was joined by Mark E. Manigan, President and Chief Executive Officer of RWJBarnabas Health, and Darrell K. Terry, Sr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. Leadership from Community Health and External Affairs also participated in the event.
The group discussed ongoing efforts to improve access to health care, support local economic growth, and promote healthier communities throughout the state. “The RWJBarnabas Health team highlighted the work we’re doing to address food insecurity, expand access to health care, strengthen local economic vitality, and ultimately, build healthier communities,” according to the organization.
Senator Booker’s visit also included conversations about the importance of partnerships with state officials in advancing these initiatives.
