The Fourteenth Annual Servant Leadership Day at Seton Hall University is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21. The event highlights the university’s focus on developing students as “servant leaders in a global society.” The Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership and the Office of Mission and Ministry sponsor the day, with support from Colleen and Hank D’Alessandro.
A key part of the celebration will be a lecture by Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L., Ph.D., Seton Hall’s 22nd president. The talk, titled “Leadership and the Gift of Self,” will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Chancellor’s Suite on the lower level of the Student Center.
Monsignor Reilly will discuss leadership modeled after Jesus Christ. He invites attendees to consider how “the pattern of the Paschal Mystery is set before each of us to accept, embrace and to live out generously. God gave us our whole being so that we might give our whole being back to God.”
Monsignor Reilly became president on July 1, 2024, marking a return to priest-presidents at Seton Hall—a tradition that had been present for most of its history. Since taking office, he has led initiatives aimed at strengthening Seton Hall’s role among Catholic universities.
He holds advanced degrees in theology from institutions in Rome as well as a doctorate in educational administration from Fordham University.
