Seton Hall University’s esports program is entering the postseason with strong results across five major titles after the completion of the Spring 2026 BIG EAST regular season. The university’s teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and VALORANT all secured top-four finishes in their respective standings.
The Rocket League varsity team had a standout performance this spring, finishing undefeated with a 7–0 record. This marks one of the best seasons in the program’s history. The team achieved victories over UConn, Creighton, Butler, Villanova, and Marquette. Notably, all players on the roster are first-year students. After not having a team last year, Seton Hall’s Rocket League squad now looks to reclaim its position at the top of the BIG EAST as it opens playoffs against Creighton on March 17 at 7 p.m.
In League of Legends, Seton Hall ended the regular season with a 5–2 record and took second place in conference standings. The team recorded wins over Villanova, Butler, Marquette, and UConn but lost narrowly to St. John’s and forfeited one match. Their playoff opener will be against Villanova on March 14 at 3 p.m.
The Overwatch team finished with a 4–2 record and earned the fourth seed for playoffs—tied in record with St. John’s and UConn for second and third positions. Throughout the season they demonstrated strong coordination and control during matches including several decisive victories such as over UConn. Seton Hall faces undefeated DePaul in its first playoff match on March 11 at 7 p.m.
Seton Hall also placed fourth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after finishing with a 3–3 record in what was described as a tightly contested league. Wins came against Marquette, Creighton, and UConn; close matches throughout highlighted progress within the roster ahead of their postseason game versus DePaul on March 13 at 7 p.m.
VALORANT made its debut as an official varsity title this spring for Seton Hall and concluded regular play at an even 3–3 mark to claim fourth seed heading into playoffs. Victories over Marquette and Butler were key moments for this new squad while close losses to UConn and St. John’s reflected high competition levels within the league. In its inaugural campaign VALORANT will face undefeated St. John’s during opening playoff rounds on March 14 at 3 p.m.
Seton Hall is currently unique among BIG EAST schools as every one of its esports teams enters postseason play ranked within their division’s top four slots—a reflection of consistent growth throughout Spring semester competition.
