The Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC) at Seton Hall University expanded its services during the fall 2025 semester to include an additional 800 pre-law undergraduate students, while continuing to serve over 1,000 pre-health students. The center emphasized that it maintained full support for pre-health students despite this growth.
Throughout the semester, PPAC offered a range of workshops, networking events, and hands-on experiences aimed at preparing students for healthcare careers. The semester began with the annual Pre-Health Social and Orientation, introducing new students to available advising services and resources.
The Med Talks Guest Speaker Series was launched, featuring board-certified specialists in fields such as obstetrics and gynecology, dentistry, podiatry, pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and general surgery. Two alumnae participated in the series to share their experiences transitioning from undergraduate studies to professional practice.
An Interprofessional Healthcare Panel brought together professionals from physician assistant studies, physical therapy, speech-language pathology, athletic training, and occupational therapy. Panelists discussed the importance of team-based collaboration in patient care and used real-world scenarios to illustrate how interprofessional care benefits patients.
PPAC also introduced a Pre-Health Volunteer Fair that connected students with local hospitals and organizations for volunteer opportunities. Additionally, a Suture Clinic provided hands-on suturing instruction led by the US Army.
Individualized advising remained central to PPAC’s offerings. Students had access to one-on-one appointments for academic planning and exam preparation. Weekly drop-in hours allowed students to seek advice on various topics including imposter syndrome and summer enrichment programs. The P-PAC Mentorship Network linked students with peers and medical students from Seton Hall University as well as other regional medical schools.
The AY 27 Medical School Application Kick-Off event guided prospective applicants through the application process by offering timelines and strategies. MCAT support included registration help, student panels, curated study materials, flashcards, and funded review sessions conducted by faculty.
With the addition of pre-law students to its community, PPAC noted increased interaction between those pursuing healthcare and law careers. To encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, PPAC hosted Hope for the Holidays—a service event where pre-law and pre-health leaders worked together on initiatives such as advocating for affordable healthcare and registering bone marrow donors.
Throughout the semester PPAC partnered with student organizations to co-host events supporting accessible advising and experiential learning opportunities for those preparing for professional school applications.
Looking ahead to spring semester programming, PPAC encouraged pre-health and pre-med students to schedule advising appointments through COMPASS or connect via email or Instagram (@setonhall_ppac).
