Seton Hall University has launched a new six-part video series that highlights the institution’s core values as outlined in its strategic plan. The series features members of the Seton Hall community who share personal stories centered on themes such as faith, love, integrity, service, resilience, and courage.
The university will release each episode monthly. According to Seton Hall, these videos are intended to reflect the example set by Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton by emphasizing service to others with empathy and creating opportunities for all. The life of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton serves as a reminder that these guiding values are meant to be practiced daily.
The first episode focuses on purpose and resilience. It features Lucas Brasil, a senior at Seton Hall’s Stillman School of Business majoring in finance and accounting. He recounts his experience coping with the loss of his mother to cancer in 2020. “Seeing her go through what she had to go through, broke me at one point,” Brasil says in the video. Despite this loss, he found strength in perseverance.
The story draws parallels between Brasil’s experience and that of Elizabeth Ann Seton, who endured significant personal losses but maintained her sense of purpose. Inspired by this example, Brasil took on new responsibilities at home and remained committed to his educational goals.
Seton Hall notes that stories like Brasil’s demonstrate how its values guide the actions of individuals throughout its community.
