Seton Hall University announced on March 9 that it will welcome Łukasz Kamieński, Ph.D., a Fulbright Visiting Scholar from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, for a series of lectures and workshops focused on international security. Kamieński’s visit is scheduled from March 11 to March 14 and will include intensive academic programming at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations.
The university said the initiative aims to connect advanced academic research with practical challenges facing modern diplomacy and security. Students and faculty interested in Poland, Slavic studies, European affairs, and international relations are encouraged to participate in the events.
Kamieński’s schedule begins with his participation in a discussion led by United States Army Colonel Scott McLellan on “Military Strategy for Diplomats.” He will then deliver a research presentation titled “Cognitive Warfare, Technology, and the Battle for Narrative,” focusing on how technologies such as artificial intelligence, neurotechnologies, the Internet of Things, and online gaming are being used by malicious actors to influence democratic societies.
Brendan Balestrieri, Ph.D., professor of Practice at the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, said: “We are all very excited to include Dr. Kamienski into our security studies programing at Seton Hall. I’m certain our students will leave his talks with a better understanding of conflict and the evolving character of warfare in the twenty-first century.”
The visit also features an applied workshop with Seton Hall’s DiploLab where students will analyze real-world indicators of influence operations. The residency concludes with an “Alliance Stress Test” Crisis Simulation focused on Eastern Europe and NATO decision-making. Kamieński will serve as lead subject-matter expert during this exercise.
On Friday morning, Kamieński will lead a Fulbright Program Roundtable to advise students and faculty on developing competitive proposals for international fellowships. That evening he will join members of Seton Hall’s Polish and Slavic Clubs at New York City’s Museum of Jewish Heritage to explore an exhibition about Polish-American artist Arthur Szyk.
James J. Kimble, Ph.D., professor of Communication, Media and the Arts and director of Prestigious Faculty Fellowships at Seton Hall said: “Dr. Kamieński’s upcoming visit reflects Seton Hall’s growing commitment to internationalization, even as it deepens our institutional relationship with the Fulbright program. The outcome will inevitably be richer opportunities for the entire campus community.”
By integrating Kamieński’s expertise into its curriculum through these events, Seton Hall continues its focus on experiential learning designed to prepare future diplomats for complex global challenges.
