Seton Hall University has introduced the Survey Squad, a new initiative from the Division of Student Services aimed at improving student feedback and increasing participation in campus surveys. The program is funded by Idea Hall with support from the Office of Provost and Office of the President.
The Survey Squad was developed by Andrew Minegar, assistant vice president of Student Services Operations, and Nicole LaCapria, Ph.D., assistant director of Assessment and Special Projects, in collaboration with Winston Roberts, assistant vice president of Student Services and dean of Student Engagement.
Low response rates to surveys have been a challenge for many universities, including Seton Hall. According to NSSE Essentials (2025), these low rates make it difficult to collect representative data about student experiences. The Survey Squad addresses this issue by involving students directly as paid leaders and ambassadors who will help design clear and relevant surveys. They will also create peer-to-peer outreach strategies, use social media promotions, and organize event-based engagement to encourage more students to participate.
The initiative aims to provide stronger data for decision-making while giving participating students experience in leadership, communication, and assessment that can benefit them in their future careers.
“The Survey Squad goals are to elevate student feedback practices, increase student engagement in assessment efforts and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement guided by student insight,” according to organizers.
Students from all majors are invited to apply. Faculty and staff are encouraged to promote the opportunity within their networks to build a diverse team. For more information, interested individuals can contact [email protected].
Student Services hopes this effort will not only improve data collection but also show that students’ opinions are valued and play an important role in shaping campus life.
