The U.S. Census Bureau has published updated international population estimates and projections, extending demographic data up to the year 2100 for 21 countries and areas. This update is part of the agency’s International Database (IDB), which now includes revised figures for countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, the United States, and others.
According to the announcement, new census data, surveys, administrative records, and analyses have been used to refine these estimates and projections. The update also adds information for 13,671 subnational regions comparable to states or counties in the United States and introduces improved mapping features.
The IDB offers detailed demographic indicators including population size and growth by sex and single year of age through age 100-plus. It also provides components of change such as mortality, fertility, and net international migration for over 220 countries and areas worldwide. The Census Bureau regularly updates this database as more data become available.
Information from the latest release can be accessed on the International Database Overview webpage: https://www.census.gov/data-tools/demo/idb/informationGateway.php.
